New York Strangers Mini-Mini

NACIVT NYMini logo1New York Strangers Sports Organization will be hosting our 1st Mini-Mini!  This tournament will give teams more playing opportunity prior to the NYMini and NACIVT tournament.

When: June 17th, 2018 (Start time 9:00 AM till 6:00 PM)

Where: Seward Park

Capacity: 20 teams (first come first serve)

Team Fees: $175.00

Tournament Format: TBD

Rain date: We will announce the future date, if a team who are registered and cannot participate that date, will be refunded 50% of the team fees.

New York Strangers Volleyball Clinic – Winter & Spring 2017

Volleyball Clinic PostcardNew York Strangers will be running volleyball clinics for kids from ages 8 to 15 years old. The clinics will be for beginner level players and there will be two separate sessions available for the public to sign-up.

Clinic #1 (COMPLETED) – Feb 11, Feb 18 &  Feb 25 (Drop Off: 9:15AM – Pick Up: 12:45PM)

Session I Coach:

Micah Acoba is a former Division I volleyball coach.  As the head coach at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, he guided the program to its most successful season in nine years and its best conference record in 16 years.

Acoba’s volleyball coaching career also includes head coach of the men’s club teams at Tufts University and Cornell University, assistant coach for the Seward Park Campus varsity boys’ team, coach for the NYC Starlings Volleyball Club, assistant coach of the varsity men’s teams at Hunter College and Baruch College, and head coach of the varsity women’s team at John Jay College.  In NYC Chinatown, he was the head coach of the United East Athletics Association women’s club volleyball team and the men’s basketball team.

Acoba played setter and outside hitter for the Division I varsity men’s volleyball team at Harvard.

Session II Coach:

Winkie Hui grew up playing volleyball in Hong Kong and represented the Hong Kong Youth Volleyball Team in 2008 as a Middle Blocker.  She completed the All China Secondary School Students Games and All China Secondary School Students Volleyball Tournament.  She moved to New York in 2011 and recently graduated from LIU Post in Health and Physical Education major, minor in Japanese.  After she came to New York, she participated 5 times in the North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

Winkie has 5 years of experience of coaching 12’s and under with NYC Juniors Volleyball Club and helped lead 4 teams to Junior Girls’ Volleyball Nationals.  Aside from club volleyball, she also has 3 years of experience of coaching middle school and high school volleyball.

We are celebrating our 16th year anniversary, the New York Strangers will be hosting a fundraiser at Grand Harmony on May 17th from 6PM to 10PM.  Early bird tickets will be $40.00 a ticket and then it’ll be regular priced at $50.00 a ticket.  What better way to enjoy a dinner under one roof with our sponsors, friends and family supporting our mission.  We are planning to have a lot of fun, games, music, dance floor and raffles throughout the dinner to make it a fun filled night.  Please come support us!
